Jnr Nat. Champs, only 2 points off a perfect score

The 2nd and 3rd July saw yet another major competition weekend, but I got to try out my new bows after only 3 days. We were up at Lilleshall, yet again! Why is it so far away from where we live? We had to do an emergency stop on the way to pick up the trophy from last year which was still at the engravers!!

On the Saturday I shot the Metric 2 round, which is 60 and 50 m at a big face and 40 and 30 m at a small face. I scored 1380 which was good for a first outing with the new bows, just a few points below the national record. It was hot!

On the Sunday I shot a Bristol 2 which is 60, 50 and 40 yds. I scored 1294 out of 1296. It was just the 61st arrow that let me down :( how annoying! This was a new National record.

What a fantastic weekend – what a great way to break in my new bows :D

Bye to oink and moo, hello to Fang and Nessie

A trip to Tony's was in order for a tune up on my bows - whilst that was happening I was introduced to the new Pearson Legend - wow - what a fantastic bow.  It was great to shoot.  A deal was in order, two new bows - one bright orange and one bright yellow, the only problem being I couldn't part from moo..... So I came home with three bows :)

First outing with a compound bow
After changing from longbow to compound in the winter months, this was my first attempt at shooting the bow in competition.  I decided that the Welsh valleys would break me in gently and headed off to Pentref Bowmen for their FITA Field (Chris Farr) Shoot.  I actually surprised myself and shot quite competently, although my score doesn't quite reflect the 'big boys' scores.  On the Sunday started quite well but had a D loop breakage, promptly repaired but took me about 4 targets to get over the shock!

Really enjoyed the shoot, had a good group which on Sunday included Mark Wiseman :D
